About us

Like many new parents, Beth received lots of generous baby gifts from friends and family. One of these gifts, an amazing baby blanket, really stood out as incredibly useful. Beth joined forces with Katie and together developed the Nod Pod baby blanket and started production in 2011. It has since been sold across the UK, France, Canada, the United States and Canada.

When Beth and Katie sent one to another friend, Sarah, she loved the product so much she joined the company!

Our first year has been a learning curve, sourcing materials, finding manufacturers, designing labels and promotional material,  fine tuning the product and balancing all this with five growing children between us. At times it has been a challenge, but also an exciting experience.

Did you Baby Led Wean?

Standard

I was doing Baby Led Weaning (or BLW) with my son before I even know it had a name! My son was very independent and wouldn’t let me feed him these (delicious?) purees I had made him! One day in frustration I gave him the cheese sandwich I was eating and he scoffed it up, he was 7 months old – so we decided that life would be easier if I just gave him what we were eating (minus any salt etc).
He has grown up to be a very confident eater, trying things I am not sure I would, and eats pretty much anything, except cauliflower (but then I don’t blame him!); but then we had the issue of hygiene and eating out.
We were once in a restaurant and I asked them to clean the high chair tray and they took a cloth out of the mop bucket; cut a long story short and I started to import Tidy Trays into the UK.
They are designed to fit any high chair or tray and they are perfect for when you are eating out, eating messy food at home or travelling on a plane. They come in blue or pink and we have a couple up for grabs.
See the post coming later this week for a competition but do let us know your BLW stories, have you seen a mop cloth used, had a great success with a particular food, would you do it again?

We have had a busy summer – what have you been up to?

Standard

We have both had a very busy summer, not only were we both transfixed with watching the Olympics and the Paralympics but we have both had babies, Amanda has had a boy and Kerri a girl, so our team has grown………and we are both very keen to continue to work on Mama To Me and make it even more of a success.

We are passionate about supporting and marketing small businesses and helping people get going on the road to success, this could be a new inventor, or a new sales consultant who is starting off.

Anyway, we will shortly have the first of our competitions coming along so stay tuned and good luck with it

Here is a busy winter too

Jane Hopkins MBE, founder of MumsClub says, “I am delighted to announce the shortlist showing those mum owned businesses who sparkled in 2011. It’s been a hard task deciding who can go through as the quality was so high, and all who have made my shortlist should be incredibly proud of themselves. It is now over to the panel of judges to make the final decision of who will win each category and I wish them all the very best of luck. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for them all.”

The judging panel consist of previous Business Mum Award winners and industry professionals.

Product Review – Tidy Trays

Standard

Well this is a difficult one to write as Kerri owns Tidy Trays UK, so we have borrowed one the Tidy Tray reviews so that you can all understand what Tidy Trays are about, thanks to SPR Product Reviews for the fabulous reviews

When the Tidy Tray arrived I was surprised at the compact size of the box. The design of the packaging is lovely and bright and clearly shows the item in use, it also states that Tidy Trays are BPA free, Lead and Phthalate free which are all important factors for me in making decisions on which products I use for my daughter Amelia.

Tidy Trays

As well as the main tray cover there is an attached pocket to hold a sippy cup or bottle, the pocket also doubles up as a bag which the cover folds into, this is very convenient for storage and travel.
We don’t have a highchair but the Tidy Tray fit perfectly on a floor level chair we have and as soon as Amelia was sat in the chair the bright design attracted her attention and she moved her hands across the cover to feel it.

I found the friction of the material made it more difficult for Amelia to push her toys off the tray and over about an hour period I only had to do 2 toy pick ups where normally it would be numerous!!

The wipe clean surface is great and as it can be easily removed and machine washed I can see any bigger spillages can be dealt with without having to take the main tray off the chair. The elasticated edge of the Tidy Tray feels very strong, durable and allows it to flex to a reasonable size.
Once Amelia it old enough to sit in highchairs when we are out it will be an essential item to take with us to ensure a clean and germ free surface for her to eat from. I would definitely recommend this product to any mothers who like myself take their children out and need that little bit of reassurance when it comes to hygiene in restaurants.”
